TNX.net Review

A couple of days ago I was contacted by TNX to do a review for their link selling system.  I agreed, because I like doing reviews, especially the ones I get paid for :)

Link Selling Hurts Your PR

Although this statement is true, to me it really doesn’t matter what Google thinks of my site.  I will continue to do paid reviews and sell links and banner spots.  In the meantime, I signed up for TNX.net just to see what they had to offer.

If you don’t know what TNX.net does, let me give you the short version.

TNX.net allowes publishers to sell links from each page on their website, and for advertisers it allowes to buy millions of links from other sites in few clicks. TNX is a convenient tool that allowes publishers and advertisers to save time, efforts and money: in just a few minutes you can have thousands of links from hundreds of high quality relevant sites linking to yours.

The first thing that I did was check out the profit calculator they offer in the sidebar.  I entered this blog and noticed that the links will be getting sold based on PR.  Well, since this blog already has a ZERO PR for doing paid posts, my links will be making me $0 per month.

Regardless, I just wanted to sign up and see what the system looked like “on the inside”.  Right off the bat we are shown some stats and here they are for those that like numbers:

as of today we have 49727 users (daily growth:+0.24%)
links in the system: 23859155
links created in last hour: 10715
number of pages indexed by TNX: 28016021

That is quite a few links and pages indexed if you ask me, there should be plenty of places to get a link.  Here is a link to the FAQ’s for the publishers, so that you know what you are getting into before you join.

I like the way the system is setup, it’s very neat and easy to navigate through.  What I am going to do is setup a couple of websites and see how it goes for a month (like I always do) and see what happens.

If you would like to give TNX.net a try go ahead and sign up, I was approved within minutes and from there you can start selling links.  I will be running the system for one month so make sure that you check back and see how it’s all going.

Commision Junction Loses eBay

This is sort of huge and, of course, all over the internet by now.  eBay.com will be moving it’s affiliate program from the Commission Junction platform.  This only affects me in a couple of ways.  1.  I have a couple of “poor mans BANS sites” and 2.  I have a bunch of affiliate links on my electronics website.

Some of you might not think that is much of a big deal, but this means hours of manually updating RSS feeds and eBay affiliate links.  Oh well.  I think that it might be a good thing that eBay finally doesn’t need to have it’s hand held with affiliates.

I really feel bad for the folks that have HUGE eBay related websites and may not have any automated options for updating links and getting away from CJ.

Well, in the meantime, if you haven’t heard already, go ahead and read the press release.

Will this change affect any income that you have coming in every month?

Kettering University – Co-op Program That Works

Today’s off topic post is about a university that I think has a real good idea. The engineering co-op programs that they offer actually allows you to rotate between school and your job every couple of months or so.  I really think that is an excellent idea for a industrial engineering university to offer it’s students.

What could be the downfall?  You are educated, sent into the workforce, then brought back to be further educated.  For a mechanical stand point, I think the program would work wonders for these types of students.  Not to mention that Kettering University was named “the #1 University in the nation for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering” by America’s Best Colleges Guide for 2008.

Having a college that allows student that option to get into the workplace faster will give them a larger advantage in the real world.  Students typically have jobs lined up for them during their freshman year.  From there the students will be on rotation about every 3 months, between work and school.

The website currently has video interviews with students about the co-op program and more.  And of course, you have to check out the adventures of Stickman, seemingly the schools mascot.

After watching a couple of videos and reading through the website, I really think that Kettering University has something here.

Buying Keywords at theSocialMillionaire.com

thesocialmillionaire.com

I know that some of you guys read JohnChow.com AND JohnCow.com.  Well, if you didn’t notice the posts and press about http://www.thesocialmillionaire.com/yet, you can see it now.  The website/blog is setup just like a keyword bidding website ala milliondollarwiki, etc, etc.  Only this time around you are going to purchase a keyword only, for $1.

The catch is that if you want to rank high on the page for that keyword, you have to be the high bidder.  Understand?  I know it seems hard to follow, but if you just go to the Affiliate Marketing keyword page here, you can see what I mean.  My $1 bought me a link at the bottom of the list.

I didn’t expect to make it to the top of the list with $1, I think I just wanted to be a part of Pat Hankinson’s project.  I will probably buy more keywords, because you can’t get them any cheaper I’ve looked!  But for now, I am going to test it out and see what, if any, traffic comes from the website.

Now, rock-n-roll your way over there and check things out.  You might be able to get into a keyword before your competition does.
