Netflix Streaming Is GREAT! With A Free Trial, At Least Try It!

As you know, I am a HUGE fan of Netflix and the fact that I can stream it through my Xbox 360! There are people I talk to on a daily basis about Netflix and I always ask how they can pay for satellite or cable TV. They always ask me what shows are available, usually a Prime Time reality show, and they usually are NOT available for instant streaming. But what the others don’t understand is that your watching habits change based on what’s available. Who wants to waste their life with reality TV anyways, right?

I always tell them to at least try it out, since it’s free for two weeks, sometimes even a month. Most are very, very hesitant, but some check into and LOVE it. The “instant queue” starts to fill up with shows they forgot about and ones they loved back in the day like Law & Order. Now they can watch every single episode that was produced instead just the ones syndicated for re-runs. And the best part is you can watch them when YOU want to.

Now you can stream Netflix through a couple of devices including the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and a couple of high end blu-ray players. Of course, you can also watch Netflix on any desktop or laptop computer as long as you have an account and a high speed internet connection.

Some people online are looking for ways to stream Netflix through a satellite receiver, but that really doesn’t make much sense to me, but that’s because I wouldn’t be paying for TV the same time I had a Netflix account. Because we live in the country, our internet connection is quite limited to wireless broadband at about 3MB (if we are lucky). That does stream just about everything we have watched so far, but the download times are a bit slower. And because we have the wireless broadband at 3MB, we are unable to see most shows that can be streamed in HD, like The Office.

So, it’s a really nice service and I am sure that you have heard of it. With a FREE trial that lasts up to a month, why not try it!?

Iron Man 2 Coming Out May 7th

It seems like I have been waiting forever to see the second Iron Man movie. Robert Downey, Jr. did such a great job in the first Iron Man, that I cannot wait to see his cocky attitude in this second Iron Man installment.

In previews that I am sure you have seen already, it appears that the government wants what Tony Stark has, Iron Man. Unfortunately for the government, Tony Stark has other ideas for them.

I really am starting to like Robert in movies, although I have not seen Sherlock Holmes yet, it does look like another great movie to add to my collection.

What do you think of the Iron Man character and movies that are made so far? Of course there is just a bit of merchandising involved, you know, like iron man collectibles, action figures and costumes, but that is similar to any other blockbuster movie that comes out every year.

I was watching a show on television last night and saw a commercial (pretty rare since I have a DVR) for a FREE Netflix Trial. The website advertised was TryNetflix.com. I believe the trial for Netflix is 14 days and I am sure that is plenty of time to decide whether you want to try the service or not.

I have been trying to ditch my satellite television (through Dish Network) for some time now. All I wanted to do was be able to get the shows I watch, to my new LCD tv, from the internet. I KNOW it’s possible, but I was running into issues with some shows I could not find and websites that weren’t easy to use.

Now that I signed up for Netflix about 2 weeks ago, I don’t think I have turned on my satellite receiver more than 5 times. Netflix instant streaming selection has kept me busy, as well as, enjoying my new TV much more! Netflix has over 50,000 titles available on DVD and Blu Ray right now and over 15,000 titles available for instant streaming right to your TV.

What is instant streaming?

Netflix sells a box, that connects to your high speed internet service, then to your TV and that is how you can get the instant streams when available. The box is called Roku and there is a ONE-TIME fee starting at $99 for the unit, you can get one with a 30-day Money Back Guarantee!.

Another available option is that if you own an Xbox 360 console. Netflix has teamed up with Microsoft to bring the instant streaming library right to your Xbox 360 console. The service is FREE when you have an Xbox Live Gold membership, which you can buy right here.

At first I didn’t think the selection was going to be very good, but I was wrong. Like I said, we haven’t used the Dish Network more than 5 times in our first month as Netflix members. There is SO much available and NEW stuff is ready for streaming every week. We only have the ONE-DVD at a time plan for like $9 per month, but it is WELL worth it if you are watching movies and shows anyways.

Never rent a movie or tv show dvd again! Take that $100+ you are paying Dish Network, DirectTV or Cable company and save it. Even at the highest Netflix plan, you are still saving an ass load of money.

Karate Kid 2010 Trailer – Fans Must See

In case you haven’t figured it out, I am very much a fan of the Karate Kid movies (minus #4). I saw the first one many, many years ago and still watch it if I can catch it on the TV. The soundtrack, dialog and of course, Mr. Miyagi is all priceless to this day.

So, today I get on Youtube and I see the trailer for the newest one starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. I have heard rumors about the movie, but this is the first time I see the trailer. 3 words! I AM PUMPED! I see there might be a could of rip-offs from the original, but I think I will still see the movie only because I am a fan of Karate Kid AND Jackie Chan.

The Proposal Movie Reviewed in Short

I really like romantic comedies as a genre. The latest one that I have seen is The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. As you already know from the previews, Sandra plays the bitchy boss type at a publishing company and it Ryan is her secretary executive assistant. He is gunning for a promotion and she is gunning to step on people everywhere she goes.

Sandra’s character (Margaret) has little feelings for anyone but herself, just like the typical bitchy boss type. Ryan’s character (Andrew) knows how to please her and gets all the crap from her and takes it in stride. When she finds out that she is going to deported, to Canada, because her paperwork was denied, she pulls a nasty little trick on Andrew. She quickly comes up with a plan to get married to Andrew and he only learns of this right at the moment she is telling her bosses this.

As you can probably tell, things get really insane from here. From the INS agent that wants to make sure they are NOT trying to defraud the process to the nutty “Gamy” played perfectly by Betty White. Andrew’s father, played by Craig T Nelson, doesn’t approve of his life in New York and you quickly see that he wants Andrew to take over the family businesses in Alaska. When Andrew says he does NOT want to do so and is happy as a writer/editor, his dad does not take things well.

Needless to say, the “scam” wedding starts to turn into an actual romance and nobody can really tell. Andrew and Margaret get closer when they spend the weekend in Alaska for Gamy’s birthday. In an “all of a sudden” moment the parents want the two to get married THAT weekend at the house. Things get stressful as the family gets prepared for the wedding coming in less than 24 hours.

It gets interesting at this point and I am not going to write any spoilers at this point. I liked it, rated it 4 stars on Facebook Flixster and A+ on Yahoo Movies. A couple of my favorite parts were when “Oscar” from The Office is playing multiple roles, including male dancer, store manager and he is the one marrying the couple. He does a great job. The other funniest part was “the baby maker” blanket than Gamy puts on the bed the couple will “share”. There are ups and downs but in the end I felt good about my relationship and it was a nice “date type movie” in my opinion!

Sicko by Michael Moore – Why Didn’t I See This Sooner?

I just got done watching the movie, SICKO, by Michael Moore. There is a ton of crap about him all over the web, but I really think that his movie was well worth the watch.

With a health care system that is constantly in the ringer here in the United States, it’s no wonder why Americans are so upset and want to see a real change. When people think of universal health care, they DO NOT think of the USA. They are thinking more about places like Canada and France, where it doesn’t matter what is wrong with you, if you end up at a hospital, you get cared for. 100% free of charge at the time of your visit.

Now, I say 100% free of charge at the time of your visit, because you are really paying for this quality health care via your taxes. But after seeing what it is all about in countries with universal health care, you are going to want to pack your bags and head out of dodge as soon as you can!

50 million folks do NOT have health care. Rotting teeth, kidney failure, diabetes, cancer, tumors and so much more is going undetected and untreated because those folks cannot afford the bill. After seeing how the countries with free health care really take care of those in need, it really makes you think about why people in the USA are denied health care because they were too fat, or even TOO THIN!!

Get this movie if you think you know anything about the healthcare system here in the USA. I was appalled by the movie and some of the stats that were told, not to mention the fact that former employees will come right out and tell you how it all works when doctors get a bonus because they TURN patients away!

Iron Man 2 Starts Filming Soon Including Scarlett & Mickey

There has been plenty of news regarding the next Iron Man movie, even though it isn’t about to come out until March 2010. The stars just keep lining up to be a part of this movie and the latest are hotty Scarlette Johanson and Mickey Rourke.

Mickey Rourke is playing a Russian villan, of course, and Scarlett will be the Black Widow. My guess is that she is going to play a HOT Black Widow! The movie will be a hit for sure, just like the last, and the value of all iron man collectibles will go through the roof.

I am sure that as soon as you can get your hands on action figures or posters, you will see them on ebay. Doing a quick search on Google News, you can find many articles about the next movie, including one asking if Paltrow maybe leaked some information regarding the movie.

I always wondered how things were kept so quiet with movies, but I am sure actors are just good at not bringing things up like that in normal conversation.

Any More Good Movies Coming this Summer?

I have had a pretty fun at the movie theater this year. I just recently saw the 3rd installment of the Mummy series and Step Brothers in the same weekend.

I haven’t been to a Friday night show in a while, I am really too cheap to pay full price, but this time I wanted to treat my lady friend to a night out The movie was ok, but I really hated the fact that the woman is a different actress and the boy is already 20 something. I am not saying she was a bad choice, it’s just that I hate to see characters change in a trilogy, no matter what it’s about. The fact that Brendan Fraser didn’t age, but his child from the last movie is now 20 something, bothered me a bit too. Jet Li played an awesome part and over all the movie was good enough for me to see on a Friday night.

Step Brothers on the other hand was something different. I recommend this movie to anyone AND everyone! Will Ferrell is just awesome and everything he writes is just amazing. If you can picture a movie with 2 40 year olds that act like 5 year olds THE WHOLE TIME. They don’t break character until later in the movie and I think that was just amazing. Funny crap, stupid jokes and bad sex scenes make the movie even better. If you have a minute, you go check this one out!

National Treasure 2 – My 2 Cents

Last night I watched National Treasure 2 on DVD. I didn’t think it was that bad at all. I really like Cage as an actor and seeing the first one, I knew the 2nd would be equally as good.

Some of things did seem far fetched, but that’s how it is in movies, right? With that said, I really think they created those “impossible” things perfectly and it all flowed real well with the movie. From start to finish I was drawn in. By the 12th minute, the dvd started to skip, but I did whatever I could to watch the rest of the movie.

I recommend it if you haven’t already seen it and now I sort of wish I would have caught it in the theaters. Maybe next time
