GetOnTheShelf.com Walmart American Idol-like Contest for Entrepreneurs

Looks like Wal-Mart.com might be the next best place to get the publicity that you are craving for your new product. Can’t seem to get the amount of sales that you hoped for when you invented your first gadget? Wal-Mart might be able to help with that as they announce today they are running a contest to help inventors and entrepreneurs get virtual shelf space at Walmart.com.

The contest, called “Get on the Shelf”, will be run similar to American Idol. The top products will be voted on by the public, at GetontheShelf.com and the top voted product will get “shelf” space on the largest retailers website. Having a contest like this is pretty much opposite of how Wal-Mart typically picks products for their stores. Giving product owners just one hour to wow the Wal-Mart buyers and give reasons why their product would be bought by shoppers.

“For a long time, the ability to get a product into a retail store was at the sole discretion of the store buyer,” said Venky Harinarayan, senior vice president of Wal-Mart’s global e-commerce unit. ”Today we are removing these barriers by giving anyone the chance to launch their product at Wal-Mart and reach millions of shoppers nationwide,” he said. Any resident of the United States that would like to get their product on the Walmart.com website should submit their product by Feb. 22nd. The first round of public voting will go from March 7th to April 4th and will narrow the field down to 10 finalists. The second round of voting will go from April 11th to April 24th to determine the top three winners.

From that point Wal-Mart will offer assistance that is needed with production, etc in order to get the amount of stocked merchandise the website could potentially sell. After the initial offering, Wal-Mart will decide whether or not the product will be sold on the Wal-Mart website again.

CrashTheSuperBowl.com Doritos Sweepstakes Win $10,000 Cash!

The Super Bowl is one of the most watch events in television history and over the past 10+ years, companies have been jockeying for commercial spots that can cost up to $2 million for 30 seconds. First let’s take a closer look at how you get the codes that you need to enter on the website. According to the DewXP.com website, you can find your unique 10-digit codes under the ORANGE caps found on Mountain Dew bottles and on the back of specially marked Doritos brand chip bags. You might also be able to send in for a free code, so look at the official rules to see if that is an option.

Once you get your codes all lined up, go ahead to the DewXP Rank Up Your Game website to enter them. You WILL have to have an account, just like any other sweepstakes, so create one of those quickly. You can also sign in with your FACEBOOK account if that is easier for you.

Ben & Jerry’s Schweddy Balls Ice Cream is a huge hit

These days you get all kinds of fun flavors for your ice cream, but the latest to take the country by storm, and even cause a little uproar, is the brand new Ben & Jerry’s Schweddy Balls Ice Cream. That is correct, you read that right, Ben & Jerry’s has crossed the line and with the new season of Saturday Night Live on the air, you can bet the name of the ice cream brings most people back to one of the most memorable SNL skits of all time. Everybody will remember the time that Alec Baldwin appeared on the radio show, “Delicious Dish” with his new Schweddy Balls that come in a variety of flavors. Throughout the skit Baldwin’s character, Pete Schweddy, talks about all the balls his bakery makes and ends the skits with “No one can resist my Schweddy Balls”.

Even though we are huge fans of ice cream, as I am sure you are as well, the American Family Association has decided that they are not very big fans of novelty named ice creams and do not want them to appear anywhere near their freezer section. The group, One Million Moms, wants to ban the sale of the ice cream and sent a letter to all members requesting assistance in the boycott of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. In the letter, the group wrote:

“In the past, Ben & Jerry’s has released controversial ice creams, like a special edition of Chubby Hubby called Hubby Hubby last year which celebrated gay marriage. It seems that offending customers has become an annual tradition for Ben & Jerry’s. The ice cream is being released in a limited batch, which means it will be distributed nationwide but only for three or four months. If it proves popular, another batch might be forthcoming, but we hope not.”

Commenting on other flavors that were recently released, but not coming right out and talking gay marriage, the group is trying to get members on their side, even though they must be sure the ice cream is hard to resist, even if it is named Schweddy Balls.

The Schweddy Balls is actually “fudge-covered rum and malt balls” and even though I have not been able to find it locally, there are some reviews posted online, like right here.

Hunted: The Demon’s Forge Xbox 360 Game Review

Set in a dark fantasy world, Hunted: The Demon?s Forge is an unforgettable cooperative action game. Taking control of either E?lara, a ranged weapon expert, or Caddoc, a master swordsman, you must use a variety of weapons, powerful spells, and cover tactics to battle your way through menacing dungeons, overgrown ruins, and downtrodden towns. Discover secrets and complete co-op-based puzzles to discover answers to the game?s deep, dark mysteries.

I like it so far, wish they made more games like it for the Xbox 360. You can switch characters to your liking at certain spots in the game. Single player is full screen, you can co-op online or off. So I forced my bf to play with me the other day and then it goes split screen. Not a fan of that but it’s got that Call of Duty feel to it then, and you can roam around freely. So if you play the Female (hunter) she can say, Shoot ice arrows to freeze opponents and then the male character (melee) can then smash them to pieces, etc. Or use her to disarm/destroy shields/armor so he can than take them down quicker.

The dungeon crawling aspect of it, is doing things like having the hunter light her arrows from a fire and shoot an unlit pyre to light up a hallway, the male character can also pick up clubs and light them as well. Male character can also move heavy objects like, pieces of walls and statues so that you can find hidden objects and side quests. Female can blow up pieces of wall with Exploding arrows. Lots of puzzles to figure out as well, mostly side quests but rewards are decent. It’s a blend of Dragon Age/C.O.D./dash of Oblivion…but that’s just my opinion.

No annoying “inventory full” crap because you wear/yield everything. Once shields have taken a beating they deteriorate and you must pick up a new one. There is no shopping/selling. Weapon effects (poison,ice, etc) also diminish and they will become plain weapons, so again, you’d just dispose and grab new ones.

This way, you can view the prizes available locally in your area.

Inside the account page, you are shown all the different prizes you can win, how many points you have, what contests you entered and who the winners are. From the account page, you can learn how to get more points, what the upcoming prizes are and you can see how many points you have in your “Taste Points Bank”.

Where do you get the Taste Points? There is exactly 4 different ways to get the points and the locations are listed below:

Specially marked packs of bottles – bottom of package.
Specially marked packs of cans – inside package.
Specially-marked single 12-oz. bottles – on neck of bottle.
Specially-marked single 24-oz. cans – last 4 digits of stamp on the bottom of the can.

Remember there is NO LIMIT to the amount of points you can have, but the promotion will end on July 31st, so make sure you have all the points you want to use, entered before that date!

After you get all settled in and read through the FAQ’s all you have to do is go to your local beer selling establishment, pick up some ice cold Miller Lite’s and enjoy.
