What is a Haunting?
Do you believe in ghosts? Do you belive your home is haunted? Have you ever asked yourself what a haunting actually is? Well, I had a discussion about this topic today and I thought I would throw it out there for all to read. The question was brought up whether a residual ghost (one that appears in the same place and always does the same things) is really a “haunting”. One person thought it wasn’t because when they think of a haunting, they think of something they fear. If something appears in the same place over and over, one would get used to it. As opposed to something that will pick your butcher knife up and whip it across a room one night, but on the next night, grab you by the neck while you sleep. My argument was that how do you know the residual haunt actually is just that? Unless you see it more than one time yourself, you would only know if multiple people can describe the same haunt over time.
To me, a haunting is a haunting, they are same-same. Whether or not a feel afraid of the haunt has nothing to do with it. An easier way to describe it would have to be putting it all into the “paranormal” category. Those of you that read this blog normally, know that I have quite in interest in the paranormal and have devoted a whole category to the topic. I watch just about anything I can on ghosts (GhostHunters, Most Haunted), hauntings (A Haunting), or paranormal things (Is It Real?) that I can find on the television. Most of the shows are getting old to me, but every now and again there is something new that I haven’t seen yet, although, most of the time it’s just another show with information I have seen on another.
