Kansas Out – Saint Mary’s In (for now) – WTF NCAA

Sign up for your chance at 4 tickets to NCAA game!

So we all know the news that Kansas, everyone’s favorite to hit the championship game this year, was kicked out like a dead beat dad in last night’s game. So, where do we go from here? All of our brackets are jacked up and we all have no one to turn to.

Is that one creepy guy that never talks and holds his ear when he talks going to win the office pool because he picked his teams based on some random mathematical equation and not the seeds like the rest of us idiots?

Sorry for the run-on question, but I just thought I would jam a few of my own thoughts into this tourney. I never have a clue what is going on with the NCAA tourney, but I get in a pool or two every year. Why you ask? Well, it’s because it “could be” easy money, but I do not make my picks based on the fact that I know the teams, I pick them based on historical performance that is over 10 years old :)

So, I will be sitting at the bottom of the pile, just like everyone else that thought the first two rounds were going to be easy to pick.

Good luck and enjoy the rest of the tourny!

DoritosChangeTheGame.com – Pick Cover For Madden 2011

Click here for your chance to WIN Madden 2010 for Playstation 3!!

August 22, 2006: MaddenolidayFinally, I get to see a sweepstakes that is worth the time and effort to enter :)   Doritoschangethegame.com (A Snack Strong Production) has opened and now YOU get to help decide how ends up on the cover of Madden 2011!

At the website you get to vote for Jared Allen of the Vikings, Drew Brees of the Saints or Reggie Wayne.  I already went to the site and placed my vote for Jared Allen.  Let’s get a defensive player on the cover.  Sure his team choked when it meant the most, but that doesn’t mean Allen wasn’t a star player himself, right!?

We have all read about the Madden Cover Curse by now.  Basically, a couple of players that graced the cover came to untimely season ending injuries.  Those having poor seasons following being on the cover included, Marshall Faulk, Brett Favre, Daunte Culpepper and Vince Young.

So, now it is up to you to choose one of two things.  Either your favorite player, or the one that you want to have a bad season next year.  Take your pick, but choose wisely!

Are You Watching The Super Bowl?

Of course I am watching the Super Bowl, of course I wish the commercials were gone and the halftime show was JUST a review of the first half stats, but you cannot have everything.

I am pulling for the Saints (+6) and I think they have a great shot at getting this win under their belt. That way when next season starts they can keep the streak alive. The Saints are full of weapons and I think are less likely to cause a game ending mistake ala Green Bay Packers.

I think it will be a high scoring game and the team that keeps from turning the ball over will win in the end. Of course, like I said to most of my co-workers, if BOTH defenses show up in the same game, it could be low scoring. The defenses have been so flip-floppy throughout the season that I just think it will be touchdown after touchdown.

With a spread of only 6 and an over/under of 57 I think that even Vegas knows this game will be worth watching and possibly even betting on.  I placed two bets with co-workers that think the Colts will win, BUT they also have the COLTS in a Super Bowl pool, so you know how that goes.  If they bet with their team, they must be closer to winning the pool, lol.

ProFootball Pickem Summary – Week 8 Picks

yahoo-pro-football-pickem

Over the last couple wee – ks, I have been posting my picks and results in my Yahoo Profootball Pickem league.  Needless to say, I am not doing very well against the spread.  You can see those posts here and here.

This week, I see that almost all of the home teams are favored, but that does not mean it’s going to be an easy week of picks.  There are still point spreads in the double digits for the Colts, Bears, Chargers and Cardinals.  Just because those teams are at home, does not mean they can score a touchdown, or two, to cover the spread.

Almost midway through the NFL Sunday, I see that some of these spreads are going to be hard to cover unless we see some major scoring.  For now, my picks include:

  • Houston -3.5
  • Cleveland +13
  • Seattle +9.5
  • Detroit +0
  • Indianapolis -12
  • NY Jets -3.0
  • NY Giants +0
  • Denver +3.5
  • Tennessee -3.0
  • Oakland +16.5
  • Green Bay -3.0
  • Arizona -10.0
  • New Orleans -10.0

Let’s just hope that I can nail at least 50% of those.  Judging by some of the scores so far, it doesn’t look good.

How are your picks doing this year?
