Over the last couple wee – ks, I have been posting my picks and results in my Yahoo Profootball Pickem league.  Needless to say, I am not doing very well against the spread.  You can see those posts here and here.

This week, I see that almost all of the home teams are favored, but that does not mean it’s going to be an easy week of picks.  There are still point spreads in the double digits for the Colts, Bears, Chargers and Cardinals.  Just because those teams are at home, does not mean they can score a touchdown, or two, to cover the spread.

Almost midway through the NFL Sunday, I see that some of these spreads are going to be hard to cover unless we see some major scoring.  For now, my picks include:

• Houston -3.5
• Cleveland +13
• Seattle +9.5
• Detroit +0
• Indianapolis -12
• NY Jets -3.0
• NY Giants +0
• Denver +3.5
• Tennessee -3.0
• Oakland +16.5
• Green Bay -3.0
• Arizona -10.0
• New Orleans -10.0

Let’s just hope that I can nail at least 50% of those.  Judging by some of the scores so far, it doesn’t look good.

Ok, so since I was a measly 50% last week with a 8 for 8 count, let’s take a look at this weeks picks and see how I do. I picked a couple more upsets than normal because I am trying a newer strategy this year, you will see them below. My picks are in BOLD.

Hopefully I will be able to do a tad better this week. I like to at least get 10 or more right. The top picker in my league last week had 14 out of 16 correct! I have a lot of work to do if I plan to catch up!

This week there was a Thursday game so I had to get my picks in early.  The first week is always a little tough because you just aren’t sure how the teams have developed throughout the preseason.  I usually just go with my gut on the first week, so here is my pick for Thursdays, against the spread.  (bold = my pick)

As you can see, I have picked my teams (in bold) and the spread is listed right next to the game.  On Tuesday or Wednesday I will be updating my “score” for the year, so stay tuned for that.  Follow me every week to see how well I do this year.  I will keep my stats posted in the sidebar.
