Craigslist.org Spammers Get Cut Off – For Now

I am going to post on Craigslist today and I notice something a little different this time on the posting screen.  It appears, in an effort to kill spammers, Craigslist has added a “captcha” for users to click in order to reply to a posting.

Although I think this is a great idea in theory, I am amazed that the people at Craigslist really think bots are doing ALL the spamming.  In various forums you can find people posting to pay other, humans, to post/reply on the craigslist website.  Exactly, the folks might have been banned or otherwise, but they are willing to PAY people to post/reply on the popular classified website.

I got to thinking about what the ROI was on something like this, but then I thought, who cares, if people are willing to spend money on something like that, they HAVE to be making their money back 10x over.

So, I give the programmers at Craigslist a pat on the back for moving in the right direction, but I am not 100% convinced, it will solve the problem.

What do you think about the spammers on Craigslist?
